MUSA. MUSEO SUBACUATICO DE ARTE.
SUBAQUATIC MUSEM OF ART.
Cancun's and Isla Mujeres' Nautical associates along with artist Jason deCaires Taylor develop this Museum project to provide divers a choice of diving, to have a system that encourages the colonisation of coral echo-systems also called artificial reefs. The cement finish and chemical composition of the statues invites underwater organisms and marine life to develop a habitat. The figures are transformed over time by the environment, and growth of life, changing the statues' shapes so the next time you visit the same statues look incredibly different.
First phase of the museum started with the sinking of 3 statues,La Jardinera (The Gardener) El Hombre en llamas (Man on Fire) due to having several small holes filled with fire coral and El Coleccionista de Suenos(Dream Collector)
this statue he used bottled messages from many different places.

The artist's most amazing endeavour. 400 life-size statues that provide a documentation of how society and people have changed over time both physically and socially. The installation starts with Mayan times and goes through todays society. It is also to remind us of how we are connected to nature.
The Third phase of the museum is in process and it is about local artists participating with several more sculptures.
